We make minimalist bath and body products that are good for you and good for the environment and we are constantly working to make our products and packaging more sustainable.
We are a social enterprise - this means that we are just like a normal business, we make products, we employ people, we pay taxes.
However, we use ALL our net profit to put a dent in global poverty - focusing on education.
Well, did you know:
400 million children live in extreme poverty.
Enrollment figures only tell part of the story. Around 250 million 5-to-12 year olds cannot read or write, whether they are in school or not (what?!)
If all students in low-income countries gained basic reading skills, 171 million people could be lifted out of poverty.
Of the nearly 2 billion youth in the world, roughly one-third are not employed, not in school, and not in formal training for work.
Here at Good Karma, we believe that not having access to education is one of the underlying causes of global poverty. Give a man (or woman) a fish, he can feed his family for a day. Teach a man how to fish, he can feed his family for life right?
So here we are, a small business in Auckland trying to make a difference and hopefully, inspiring others to do the same.
